Omega Seamaster Diver 300m and Omega Speedmaster
OMEGA SEAMASTER DIVER 300 M
If you ask a connoisseur what sports watch to buy on a budget, the Seamaster 300 M is nearly always on the list.
The Omega Seamaster Professional is a favourite of mine not because of its appearance on the big screen, but because of its own merits. At the time I fell in love with the SMP (Seamaster Professional), the diver with the wavy dial was the most popular model on the market, but Omega produced an improved Seamaster with a ceramic inlay and a clear lacquered dial (among other enhancements). Omega's price has risen as a result of the developments, as the company continues to rise in the market and get more recognition.
Its scalloped bezel, skeletonized hands, and five-link bracelet give it a unique personality, making it appear more sporty and avant-garde than a completely flexible diver's watch.
The Seamaster models were Omega's first diver watches, and they've been part of the official catalogue in some form or another for nearly 40 years.
Despite the fact that the Seamaster family has expanded to include the Planet Ocean series, many watch enthusiasts still regard the Seamaster 300 M as the gold standard.
The model has evolved significantly over time, and the current form bears no resemblance to the original. Despite this, it has managed to hold on to its primary values. The Seamaster 300 M is to divers' watches what the legendary Speedmaster is to chronographs: a collector's must-have.
Technical Characteristics of a 300m Seamaster Diver
As one might expect, this watch is made to seem like a sleek luxury automobile. You'll notice how weighty the watch is when you first take it up. With alternating brushed and polished surfaces, the stainless steel case offers a charming design. Installing the signature crown is easier than any other dive I've ever done. A helium escape valve with the element's atomic symbol is, of course, supplied. The ceramic insert on the unidirectional rotating bezel adds a nice touch of "bling" to the watch while keeping it on par with its major competitor, the Rolex Submariner. The planet ocean font has been changed to look more resemble the telescope typeface.
Scratch-resistant, domed, and anti-reflective sapphire crystal allows you to view the dial clearly. The dial is a dark blue lacquer that shifts somewhat in colour depending on the viewing angle. Sometimes it's flat, and other times it's a sea of liquid blue with brilliant hour signs floating in it. The date window has been greatly improved in this version.
The case is easily recognisable thanks to its lyre-shaped lugs and angular bezel. This Omega (the SEAMASTER DIVER 300 M) has an outstanding finish and is widely referenced as a model.
The Omega Sea Dragon trademark, which is one of my favourite bottom page prints, is visible when you turn the watch over. The dragon is propelled by an Omega-modified ETA 2892 movement (Caliber 2500). This certified chronometer features Omega's coaxial exhaust technology. When compared to another watch with an ETA 2824, it beats at 25,200 bph (7 bps) instead of the standard 8 bps, giving the second hand a longer stride length.
The crown on this watch has three positions:
The crown is forced back against the casing when worn in the regular position, assuring water resistance. If the watch hasn't been used in 48 hours or more, wind it on a regular basis with the crown in position 1.
To adjust the date, pull the crown out to position 2, spin the crown backwards, and then push the crown back into position 1. It's important to note that changing the date between the hours of 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. is not recommended.
The time is displayed in hours, minutes, and seconds. Extend the crown to the third place. The seconds hand has come to a complete stop. The crown can be rotated either forward or backward. To synchronise the second, turn the crown to position 1 at the time signal.
